World Monster Truck Final Run and Won.

The anticipation has been huge. With months of build up, venue changes, date changes and truck changes, no challenge was able to stop this event from going ahead, and the first ever Sony Playstation 3 World Finals was held in front of a 10,100 strong crowd, on Saturday 15 November 2008 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, in Queensland, Australia.

And what an event it was. With the most star-studded lineup of monster truck drivers ever seen in Australia. The lineup was as follows:

1. Clive Featherby - Aus - Outback Thunda
2. Billy Featherby - Aus - Outback Thunda2
3. Jaye Featherby - Aus - Sony PS3 Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
4. Dan Patrick - USA - Sony PS3 Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
5. Billy Luther - Aus - Aussie Predator
6. Sherri Shafer - Aus - Bear Foot 1
7. Kim Becker - Aus - Undertaker USA
8. Paul Shafer - USA - Monster Patrol
9. James Tigue - USA - Batman
10. Kreg Christensen - USA - Scooby Doo

The traditional pit party kicked things off and attracted thousands of fans who took the opportunity to get up close and personal with the trucks and grab a photo and autograph or two from the drivers as well. A couple of special guests almost stole the spotlight from the drivers, as Scooby Doo & Shaggy came along to cheer on Kreg & Scooby, as well as Batman himself, to support James in his quest.

The monster truck action kicked off with individual qualifying runs to determine the racing brackets for later in the program. The course was a J-turn style with a roller hill at the start, sharp U-turn, and the obligatory cars at the end. The turn at the end was tight and caught some drivers out first time around, but the experience shone through when Kreg Christensen topped the timesheets with 10.01 second run. The qualifying order was now:

1. Kreg Christensen Scooby 10.01
2. Clive Featherby Outback Thunda 10.93
3. Dan Patrick Motorstorm 11.09
4. James Tigue Batman 11.56
5. Paul Shafer Monster Patrol 12.56
6. Billy Luther Ausse Predator 12.79
7. Billy Featherby Thunda 2 13.76
8. Jaye Featherby Motorstorm 16.89
9. Sherri Shaffer Bearfoot 18.45
10.Kim Becker Undertaker 22.35

This lead to some very exciting heads-up racing and some highly anticipated match-ups. Problems for the Undertaker truck saw it bow out in the first round as it mysteriously stalled soon after the start. A surprise was the pace of the Aussie Predator truck driven by Billy Luther, who progressed into the second round. Whilst Scooby Doo produced another lightning quick run and won his heat, his motor also cried enough, and put an end to Kreg's campaign.

The final four trucks were Outback Thunda, Motorstorm, Aussie Predator & Batman. Thunda got an unexpected bye run into the finals when Batman failed to make the starting line due to a faulty magneto. The following race between Aussie Predator & Motorstorm was one of the closest of the night. with both trucks posting super-quick times and the win being given to Motorstorm by a bumper.

The led to a USA vs Australia final with Dan Patrick in Motorstorm facing off against Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda. Both trucks jumped to a quick start and were almost level down the straight. Coming into the turn, Thunda slid wide and into the side of Motorstorm who was making the turn. With the wheels of the truck tangled, Thunda had to back up, which allowed Dan in Motorstorm to just mash the gas and go straight over the cars to get the racing win!

Freestyle was no doubt the most eagerly awaited part of the program, and all the drivers did not want to disappoint. First out was Sherri in Bear Foot 1, she started with a massive sky wheelie, then made her way around to be the first to attempt the big truck stack. She promptly stuck the truck up on top of the stack and couldn't move no matter how much she tried. Her run was called, and she had to be pulled off the truck. With the permission of officials, she restarted the truck and pulled off a couple more jumps for the fans, including another attempt at the big stack, this time being able to clear it.

Jaye was out next in Motorstorm and he was able to turn in a solid performance with some good skywheelies and jumps. He ended up with a score of 17.

Aussie Predator blasted into the arena and proceeded to lay down an exciting run which was fast paced. Some huge jumps & wheelies from the old truck got the crowd going. Two-thirds into the run, the truck lands a little crooked off a car stack and hits the car-van stack which tips the truck on its side in the air, landing on the front right wheel which bends the fourlink bar in half, and the wheel breaks off causing the truck to tip on its roof. Officials were on the scene within seconds, and Billy Luther climbed out of the truck unharmed to the cheers of the crowd. He was given a score of 24.

Outback Thunda2 with Billy Featherby at the wheel pulled off some great sky wheelies, getting some of the biggest air of the night. After demolishing a caravan, the rear steering broke and locked into a left turn position. Billy was about to attempt the big truck stack with the broken steering, but quickly rethought it and finished his run. He was scored a 19.

Batman got over his prior electrical problems to make freestyle and gave an exciting performance including smashing a huge food van, a vertical sky wheelie and a near roll over which was saved with some great driving by James. Batman scored a 20.

The new Monster Patrol truck made its freestyle performance debut with Paul Shafer driving, and even after a 3 year absence from driving trucks, he was able to put in a solid performance, hitting the big truck stack more than once and scoring 22.

Kreg Christensen was handed the Motorstorm truck by Dan Patrick after Scooby's motor failure in racing, and he proceeded to show why he has been chosen to drive the second Maximum Destruction truck in 2009. Fast-paced, hitting every single obstacle (including yet another caravan), Kreg had Motorstorm flying at every opportunity. After leaping over the big truck stack and the car-van-car stack, he then pulled off the move of the night by REVERSING over the car-van stack, getting airborne and without even a hint of letting off the throttle, driving backwards off the edge of the big truck stack. The crowd went nuts, as Kreg climbed out of the cockpit, fists pumped in the air, he smacks the trucks roof in appreciation of the crowd! The judges turned in their score, and Kreg jumps into the lead with a score of 27.

Only Outback Thunda remained, with Clive vowing before hand that even if it took losing all four wheels, he was going to beat the Americans!! A final caravan was setup, and Thunda literally thundered into the arena. The first obstacle to be hit was the caravan which promptly caused the front axle to break and stop all drive to the front wheels. Undaunted, Clive pushed on jumping and climbing everything in sight. No matter how hard he tried, Thunda would not roll over, the old girl wanting to push on. Soon enough, the motor cried enough and Thunda sat poised on the top of the cars, as the judges turned in their scores. A total of 24 meant Clive was bridesmaid yet again and the freestyle win went to Kreg Christensen.

A fitting end that both racing & freestyle were won by the Sony PS3 Motorstorm: Pacific Rift truck at the Sony PS3 World Finals! Such a fantastic show, can't wait for next year!!

Another season done new one one to begin.

One things for certain in the world of down under monster trucking we don't have a real long lay off in between seasons,,,the last show for the year was a cracker at the capacity filled Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and a new one about to begin again in just over a months time when all hell lets loose at the fantastic Sydney Indoor Acer Arena venue on Saturday Sept 6,The Acer Arena would have to be the Best venue in the country with so much room its like being in a outdoor football stadium but with the comforts of a indoor upmarket super stadium, This years program is nothing short of sensational with six trucks planned to do battle in oval track racing along with freestyle for the Indoor Australian Monster truck Championships certainly a date for the diary More great news for the monster trucks has been the new association with Sony Playstation from here on in you’ll see a big presence of Sony games at our shows on the big screen ,at the pit parties, in giveaways and importantly in the new Sony play station 3 Motor storm truck that has transformed from the old Monster Patrol but don't Fret to much about M.P because there's a Brand New one on its way across the pacific as we speak direct from Richard Inman and James Tigue who have been working on Paul Shafers old Captain America to make a very good new truck to replace this one Also we are very pleased to announce that Fuchs Oils will be with us once again next year in a big way Fuchs are very good to us and we are truly grateful for there support Chris George the Vice Pres of Amtra and Chief Steward is currently undergoing a heap more nationally accredited courses and also working more with various worksafes to get further recognition for the safety standards we continue to try to implement, he did a great job in Melbourne and it was great to see all the trucks being killed before each run without a single failure, all trucks will have their wheel tethers finalised within the next 8 weeks as well as the new improved race car fire systems, AMTRA is really pushing ahead with safety standards and in time I truly believe we will be the world leaders which is not a competition of who can out do who but something good for monster trucks and the spectators in general, The new rides truck is still being held up by the idiots in customs in the USA its been there for two months while they try to establish why it doesn’t have a V.I.N number God Bless the USA and its customs system, hopefully one day it will be cleared, unfortunately now it wont be supported by the energy drink that made a commitment to fund it after they made all sorts of bullshit excuses to crawl out of the deal, its there loss not ours, Next seasons looking to be MONSTEROUS yet again with all states getting a attack of the all new Monsters Tour of Destruction,,,September will see us attack NSW and ACT then in OCT its over the Bass strait to Tasmania before returning to NSW then November see a Queensland Invasion including OUR BIGGEST SHOW EVER ,see elsewhere for full details this will be Nov 1 Decembers Back to NSW then Jan its Both Old and NSW,,February sees us head to South Australia, then in March April its over to W.A again, before Heading Back to South Aus in Late April, then Back to Qld For May then up to Northern territory in June,,,in between all this in early March three trucks will also invade New Zealand for a 6 show tour of the north Island so as you can see we certainly wont be sitting around, and just to top it off we have Dan Patrick building two brand new trucks minus the motors so we can retire two of our older trucks to tour the show circuit exclusively throughout the year All in all 2008 and 2009 looks like being yet another fun filled year for the KCs team also now if your trying to find us on the website you can go straight to the more monster truck friendly wwwmonstertrucksaustralia.com the old Kcs will still work as well Anyhow were off to the United States now for the next four weeks look forward to seeing you all in Sydney.
Best wishes
Clive Featherby
President AMTRA

Thanks Chris George

That's a big thanks to the Bigfulla,,the monster truck world in Australia need more like him if we are ever to be a real success, each year I go the the Clash of the titans show in Salt Lake city and the local truck is called Maverick, driver Ron Dunchan has a dozen or more dedicated crew followers who work day and night to help make sure the truck and support equipment all looks and works great and they are basically all volunteers,,,just this one guy has more volunteers than the ENTIRE monster truck industry in Australia no virtually no one wants to be involved in the trucks without putting their hand out,,Chris is one of the few exceptions,he knows the costs involved he knows none of us are getting rich out of this deal and like us he does it because he truly likes this industry,he,s a good man a great help and from myself and the rest of us a very big Thank You to the Tamworth Based Chris

Grant going good.

TV 7 Sunrise presenter Grant Denyer continues to impress in the Monster truck world,in the recent indoor show at Melbournes Rod Laver arena Grant surprised everyone including himself by achieving the fastest time in the oval track time trials Grants 27,29 sec time was a fraction faster than American James Tigue, Scooby driver Billy Featherby, Samsons Sam Xureb and Thundas Clive featherby who was disqualified for spectacularly taking down the entire back straight row of safety barriers on his second lap Grants freestyle wasn't to bad either taking out seond behind Billy in Scooby Doo,,Grant is most probably monster trucks greatest asset personality wise, he's hugely popular on Austrlian T.V ,becuase of his sucessful motor Racing achievements he's popular with race fans and with his humourous peronality he's a hit with people from all walks of life from all age groups,,,its always noted at the pit parties before and after the shows he's always the last to leave never refusing a autograph or photo,,,Grant has already commited to a further seven shows this season and the way he's going at present could be a firm favourite to seriously challenge for the SONY World Monster truck titles in Brisbane on November 1

Sony World Monster truck Championships where will it be?

Its the biggest show ever planned for anywhere outside of the United states of America ,it could be as many as Fourteen Monster trucks four jetvans, backflipping fmx,the countries biggest ever stadium fireworks spectacular.,,at least four of the USa Best monster truck drivers, death defying stunt acts,,a laser, fire and light show bigger than a U2 concert and much more all planned for Saturday November 1 In Brisbane,,but that's where it falls down,,,from there on in we have,nt got a clue where about's in Brisbane,,we originally had a deal to go to Brisbane then we got very unceremoniously dumped after 24 years at the Ekka and told not to bother returning,,so much for loyalty,,,, After months of being given the run around by Operations man Gary Ashby i (clive ) was given a call from Mr Tunneys second in charge in regard to doing monster trucks at their annual Ekka show,,i almost fell of the chair the same people had been telling me for 14 months they had issues with the trucks on the grass now all of a sudden because it was Ekka time this no longer matters,as does the legality of j jumping right beside the people,i most probably should,nt have but i told him to get stuffed subsequently we are no longer welcome at the Ekka,,the other problem was we had outgrown the venue in relation to crowds,,,we have since tried just about every venue in Brisbane ,,got Laughed out of the old ANZ stadium,,virtually yelled out of the chandler velodrome before we got in the office,,,and places like Albion Park and Mt Gravatt and the Obvious Archerfield speedway just wont hold enough people for this size show. Our last hope looks to be with Ballymore Rugby Union which could go either way its a nice venue we have been in long term discussions again and are hoping for a answer again over the next week but again this venue has a lot of the major problems Perth had,,lovely venue but also has matching lovely grass,,,time will tell keep watching the website for details over the next week,,in the meantime i am saddened by the despicable attitude of Tunney who would,nt have the slightest clue of our history at the Ekka venue,
